January 19, 2004Welfare Reform Act InjusticeGo out and get a copy of this month's Reason magazine to read the most important article Matt Welch has written in a long time.
It's about how innocent men's lives get ruined by states who are incentivized by the Welfare Reform Act to name fathers of welfare-receiving children & then take over the collection process from the "deadbeat dads," even if there is DNA evidence proving that the men never fathered the children they've never seen. Unless you are already familiar with this system, you literally will not believe the extent to which these poor guys (and I mean literally poor) are basically presumed guilty, and then systematically overwhelmed by the voracious state. And even if the Child Support people know they're not the father, they won't stop until the last dollar is collected, with interest. Posted by Jim at January 19, 2004 02:11 PM Comments
That is sad but true in some cases. So tell me what does a mother of two when is time for an increase/modification and is found gulity of self-imparvishment when actually all I have done after loosing another was to go to school and still work but was making less money. For the year 03 i made 9,000 for the year and he made 65,000 now you tell me is there any justice in that . The girls live me I provide all needs he only see's them twice a month and wants to know how soon am I picking them up. I guess this is the reason that so many good men suffer because (Assholes) like this. Think about the children they do derserve better than this. Posted by: Diane Prince at May 4, 2004 09:59 AM |
