Editor Too Colorful for Johnstown, PA

David Levine, the colorful -- critics said too colorful -- editor whose blazing headlines and sharp-elbowed style enlivened the Johnstown Tribune-Democrat, was fired yesterday.

Levine was my editor when I started on the old Hudson Dispatch back when I was a 19-year-old with a couple Nikons. I can still hear him banging his fist on the desk and screaming, "Looney, where are my pictures!" And I can still see his weekly use of headlines like "Hoboken Horror!" and "Turnpike Terror!"
